Characteristic details of species Kirinia climene and Kirinia roxelana
These two species are very similar to each other and are presented below together to understand the differences in the wings and in the male and female individuals:
- The UNS of the wings are always different:
2. The UPS of the wings are not often visible but have several differences and thus facilitate the identification of:
3. The UNS of the wings of Kirinia climene males resembles the corresponding surface of Maniola jurtina; in young individuals, when the tufts of the fringes are intact (in red line), separation can be done more easily:
- In the species Kirinia climene the tufts of the wings have a sharp light gray color (in the spaces S) and dark brown, gray (in the veins V, marked with a dotted green line).
- In the species Maniola jurtina the tufts of the wings are gray, brown (in the spaces S) and dark brown (in the veins V, marked with a dotted green line).
- However, this characteristic is not always clear in old individuals, who have lost parts of the fringes.
4. To better understand the differences (between males and females and also between young and old) of four individuals of the Kirinia climene species, one individual of the Maniola jurtina species and seven individuals of the Kirinia roxelana species are presented below in order:
5. The distribution maps are also presented:
